West Nile Virus

I had it about 20 years ago.

Worst headache I could ever endure. At one point, the pain was so bad in my head a contemplated shooting myself in the head to end it. When I realized that it hurt too much to stand up and walk into my office and retrieve my gun, I called someone to take me to the hospital. I truly was not in my right mind. 5 days in the hospital and things turned around.

Just support your friend and his family. Once he starts getting better, recovery happens pretty quickly. At least it did for me.

Faith in god. Strength through family. Reliance on friends.

Honestly, I don't remember everything. It took them a couple of days to diagnose me. I was tested/checked for everything from a brain tumor, aneurysm and a bunch of other things, including Herpes (I never did quite understand that one)... when I tested negative for all of their ideas, they started treating me as West Nile positive, even though the test results took another day or two to come back.

Lots of IV's for dehydration. And some damn fine pain killers that made me feel great, talk gibberish and itch like hell. Didn't care, because it made the head pain stop.
