With the way things are going perhaps we should change it to the pheasant...

They can do some awesome things. Watching one fish, or two tangle in mid air is pretty cool. Eagles don't have to be lazy, but in most cases choose to be. It's not uncommon to see 50-100 along a stream bed pecking on dead salmon.

About 3,000 gather at one time along a river in Haines, which has a warm spring that empties into it. It's in November, and when the "hooligan" are running. That's quite a sight.

My friends from Alaska call them rats with wings. Always said like your seagulls are down here, bald eagles are up there.

Always made me laugh.

Depends. Away from town they are quite different than eagles near town. Some of the less urban eagles actually work for food at times.

Eagle steals duck. They have become conditioned in some areas to the sound of a shotgun.

yeah, I was gonna say the urban eagles are the biggest disappointment by far. Stealing food, looking for handouts and dependent on other animals (including people) for their well being. They become lazy.

My office is about a quarter mile from the landfill and this area is saturated with lazy, garbage loving eagles. I can count several dozen in a tree at one time.

Drive out the road a bit and you see them as the nature shows make them appear.
