Trying to space these purchases out so I will look into a LPVO in a few months maybe for my 5.56.
If you're going to get both and you're on a budget you made a good move. A $200 red dot isn't THAT different than a $600 red dot. Yeah, an H2 is more durable, will be clearer and have less color shift, but they'll both give you a good aiming point for a quick shot. You're not in a combat zone, you don't have to worry about toughness like the military does.
That said, there is a big difference between a $200 1-4 and a $600 1-4. There are good budget scopes out there for the money, but in general I'd give up an illuminated reticle and more magnification range in exchange for clearer glass. You can probably find a $200 1-8 with an illuminated reticle that lets you choose red or green but it's going to look like crap and the high end is going to be dark and require very precise eye location.

HOLOSUN - HS510C is what I went with for the 300BO.
I just shot a Buddys gun with this on it and it's a really nice sight. Wide open view and really bright reticle. He has it mounted on a 2011 open pistol so you know it will take a hard beating. I will probably be replacing my CMore RTS2 on my open pistol with one.
