Truck repair issue

Wondering if any mechanics from the OB could help me out.
2000 F150 5.4 V8. Truck will start but dies right away. Sounds like it starving for gas. I changed the fuel filter. But still does it. Any other suggestions other than fuel pump? Also if it is the fuel pump, easier to take bed off or drop the tank to change.

See if there is a fuse for fuel pump etc. Check all fuses actually.

Have you checked your fuel rail pressure? Or tried to listen for the fuel pump running?

I had the same issue on my old 99 Fl50. It was either the EGR or evap canister. Check those and the vacuum hoses like they said earlier.

On many trucks, it's way easier to just tilt the bed up if you need to work on the pump. You're talking 10 minutes vs an hour (and a headache)

Got the same truck. Sounds like the fuel pump.
I found it easier to take off the bed rather than dropping the tank. Flareside is harder than styleside. Watch the YouTube Video that's out there. If you changed the fuel filter you likely have the springlock tool already.

Unless it's a flareside...then you can't tilt it up...you have to lift up and slide it back a little (until you see the fuel pump access)....Tilting isn't possible due to the fit of the flareside.

My buddy's truck like that it was a crankshaft position sensor. It's behind the AC compressor. You don't have to unhook the compressor to get to it. Just move it the way. $20 part.
Look next to the AC underneath they'll be a black plug. Unplug it and put a voltmeter across the terminals on the sensor not the wire. If you have the meter set on ohms and it show OL then the sensor is open and needs replacing.
After you vefiry there is fuel pressure at the fuel rail.
Takes about 30 mins to an hour. Take off the skid plate. Makes it easier.

There's a YT video out there with a guy removing the bed off of a Lightning Flareside...the music is done by Red Hot Chili Peppers and he has a nitrous bottle in it (so you know you're looking at the right video). He does it by himself using an engine hoist. If you have 2 buddies you can do it with 3 people. Two under the wheel wells and one under the tail gate.

Those motors were notorious for this and the $1K tune up due to the sleeved spark plugs breaking off in the cylinder.
