I have a Tracker Jon Boat and looking to buy a Minn Kota Endura Max Transom-Mount Trolling Motor. See link: LINK

My question involves shaft link. Should I buy the 36 in or 42 inch shaft? Thinking the 36 inch only because Jon Boat is very small boat. Any thoughts? Thanks

So, ive had a 14x36 jon boat, and i used a 36in shaft that moved it around well except for in hydrilla. That being said, unless for some odd reason that that trolling motor is my primary propulsion for the vessel, i will NEVER own another transom mounted trolling motor. They were just too shaky for me. When i hit go, i dont want any shaking or give. And trust me, ive tried multiple store bought mounts, and ive built my own mounts. NOTHING works quite like a bow mounted trolling motor.

36” for that boat should be perfect for that boat.

What HP motor do you have? Just curious.

Thank you all for the helpful info. I have a 55 HP. Does that change your response? Thanks

36” more than enough for a boat that sits that low in the water, much easier to stow it as well.
