Troll motor question

I have to replace my Minn Kota troll motor. I am going to replace it with the same model. The question is should I buy the transom mount since I already have the bow mount on the bow? Looks like I would save about $300-400 just getting the transom mount and putting it on the bow. Is the transom mounting bracket removeable? Everything else seems to be the same minus the mounting bracket.

only if you can 100% confirm they are the same.
often the bracket that mounts to the bow mount is not used on transom mounts.
if your mount is in good shape, why dont you just buy a replacement motor for it in order to get the savings you want

You probably should call Minn Kota or my goto trolling motor shop in lafayette (337) 237-0605 and ask them. There's a chance that the new one maybe won't have somewhere to attach the string to deploy?

Yes, that is what I am trying to do. I just haven’t seen anywhere that I can purchase the motor only.

Have you reached out to a trolling motor repair shop? or looked on Facebook Marketplace?
Everyone is moving to to the remote "spot-lock" type units. There are a ton of used tiller handle trolling motors available. I imagine you could pick up one for very cheap for your use. I'd go that route instead of trying to re-engineer a transom mount unit and deal with flipping the propeller base around and all that.

Pics would help. Are you steering by hand or foot?
