Hunting out of a condo I just built last night and found where a bunch are filtering out into the beans 600 yards away. I hope to be able to put a stand right there.

One question though, what is the biggest and smallest tree you feel comfortable using mobile sticks and a light weight lock on?

I'm afraid most of my options are going to be under 9 or over 30 inches. There are only 4 or 5 trees that I think would even be a possibility. Would I be better off trying to just crawl into the waist to shoulder high CRP and brush in?

I've sat in trees that were bogger than 9in diameter and swayed with the wind.

I wouldn't use a lock on for any tree less than 12in dia.
As far as how big, I don't see a limitation there, just strap it down with good ratchet straps.

Anything under 12 and not only are you going to sway but the tree is not going to break up your silhouette. You would be better off in a ground blind.

Basically, the smaller the tree the lower you have to get. 6’ off the ground is high enough to hide from deer, as long as you have the cover. I have hunted in CRPs before and you don’t have to get 20’ high to get the hob done. If you hate being on the ground, build a platform 5’ high to put a ground blind on.

It is more about cover and or back drop then how high you are.

This stand was designed for your situation.

A 15’ ladder stand would work as well.
