I had high hopes for this morning cause I love setting after a big rain. The night before we had 2 inches it was overcast and a slight breeze last night. All I managed though was 2 coons and a grey fox though. I did miss on a couple and will post pictures of why to help some that are just starting out in another post.

Alright now for the misses in the first one I missed a fox because a stick I used to block in the trigger was too big and the trap closed on the stick leaving enough room for him to pull his foot out. I knew better when I used it.

All it has to be is a tiny stick or even a pebble to guide his foot to the trigger.

What size/kind is that trap. Looks like a DJ, but beyond that its hard to tell.

I saw that cabelas in Gonzales now carries a ton of traps. I'm sure we could load up on coyotes, bobcats, and coons at my lease.

To make sure I am following, you mean place something inside or around the edge of the trap to ensure the foot actually goes in the trap and lands on the trigger?

If you decide to buy more than one trap mtp or fnt are 2 online dealers that will destroy cabelas on price.

And i'll hop in and say yes, blocking is just convincing them where not to put their foot. You control where they dont step and you pretty much control where they do step.

That's the new ko 1.5 by no bs lures. I really like them but the only draw back is the springs are strong as hell. They are well built and are ready to go out of the box. A little pricey but so far have been worth it. Here is a LINK to their website.

Pics of animals in traps didn't turn out today, 5 beavers and a couple grinners. I'll try to get an after pic later tonight after they have dried.

I was getting $3 for the big ones but the meat market on them slowed down so now I just let them go but they are fun to let go. Some run as soon as they are released others elk suit there for an hour hissing and growling while you remake the set.

figuring on about about $40 for her she was good sized and had pretty good color. And as for fun I love doing it plus you get a little jingle in your pockets

Tell me about "letting it go."

As I recall, they're pretty pissed when you show up.

We had caught a babyish coon one day, decided to "keep" it. Threw a army duffel bag over its head, it screamed like we were monsters (scared the hell out of me)... We got it home in the bag, built a pen like a rabbit hutch. It was gone the next morning.

Just wondering how you release them without getting bit/clawed.
