Normally run full mod bridger #2 but I'm wanting to think that may have been an old bmi 1.75 or Herters #3. Just balled up with mud.

Also had a possum and a couple of rats.

Im normally decent at sewing holes but these may be tough. On fur out stuff you can hide a lot.

Couldn't flesh it very well around the holes for fear of ripping them more than they already were. A little borax will make sure there is no problem and won't even be able to see where it was shot when I flip it to fur out.

I would wax and dye them first. Don't handle without gloves. A good gland lure and I like to use bait. I would definitely put a couple dirt hole sets on that trail. Looks like an old log lower right side of that pick would make a good backer. Good luck

Thanks so much!

ETA: here are my first three sets. Trying to get a mink I been spying near my stand. Pics are not too good. Each are trails coming from water.

Right now we have a man who must be crazy because I'm getting about 30 per yote. Good thing because thats about all we have. Cats between 90-150 on avg. Fox around 25 for greys and a bit more for reds. To many yotes for a decent fox population until you get into the hills.

As far as put up goes, it may be the most rewarding part of trapping to me now. I just started doing it last year and when I made my first NAFA drop it felt like my garage was naked. 50+ pelts just made it feel more mine. Kind of look forward to those nights with just me, a bunch of sharp knives, some bourbon and old country music. After typing that it looks like a recipe for suicide.

As far as the mink goes just be patient and have zero pan tension. If it is on a trail then you will catch something, but you may have to be patient. Seems they make a longer loop. On the trail pic for yotes, find where a trail crosses the road and do a dirthole there. Maybe a flat set 10 yards away. If an area is good enough for one set its good enough for two.

Hell yeah, any day with fur is a good day. A much better start than my first day.

I'm gonna spend this week learning what waxing and dyeing mean as well as the difference between a dirthole set and a flat set. Then I'm gonna get that yote next weekend. My son is fired up!!
