Literally just finished putting out a few sets today. I'll check in the morning because I'm an optimist but I'm guessing a few more days before they hit. With the warmer weather I may have to put out a few coon dps. Hopefully water level will go down so I can start catching again on water line.
I may have a pleasant suprise soon. I partnered with a guy on a strange deal. We both put out sets on one of my properties. He will check and we'll split evenly what we catch. If we haven't gotten anything by day three I'm going to look for catch circles and see how this partnership plays out.
Hopefully I'll have an update on the guy paying me for beaver. I may have misunderstood and it will be very good for me if what I'm now hearing is right.

Smoke I hope you can update with something cause I didn't catch a damn thing. It rained here all night so I just freshened up my sets this morning. I hope both deals work out for you

Just caught a mink and a rat today. Don't have any catch set pics because I forgot camera and phone takes crappy pics at 4 am. I'll try and get a pic of remake in the am.
Also him taking a look at what is about to happen to him.
Deal is looking good on the beaver. On three of the major ditches in our area I'm going to get 20 per beaver from the county plus a 15 dollar tail bounty from the state. Add in pelt and castor and I'm looking at 50+ per beaver.

After 2 nights of nothing finally at least a catch. I think the moon has everything kind of screwed up but one grey and a big coon

Yeah hoping that is what is screwing me right now. I really need to move part of my lines. Saturday may suck. I think pulling 5 coyotes off one field may be about the end of the productivity for a bit. I just need to get my atv's carb fixed. I've got some awesome places to set, just no way your getting a truck back there with out tearing them up. Carried a 68# beaver a mile last year, will never ever do that again. Afraid I would catch another one like that or have another 6 beaver day.

Yeah I am having to walk my sets cause of the mud it makes a 10 pound grey fox feel like a full grown timber wolf by the time I get back to the truck

I'm enjoying this thread and hope you both keep posting updates.
I need to get rid of a few coons around the house, but have outside cats as well. What brand/style/size live trap do you recommend?
Thanks

quote:Definitely these! I've caught many coons with them. Unfortunately I don't know how to use the others and catch coyotes. There are a lot around my house.

I actually make my own live traps but there are alot of good ones out there. I think have a heart's are a little extravagant but they still work. I will say this though just because it's called a live trap doesn't mean it keeps them more alive than a foothold. I would just keep setting till the outside cats learned what's going on. Theyaren't as dumb as you think

Couple more rats today. I'm giving it a few more days to see if the full moon is the problem then pulling my coyote line. I have too many good places to keep running a tired line. One of these days I'll remember I don't care if I catch them all, I just want the dumb ones.

Yeah I am pretty sure the moon has things fouled up right now. I haven't seen any new tracks or sign around here. That Fox and coon yesterday must have been an exception cause I didn't get squat last night.
Cajunalum sorry bout the kind of short answer last night I was kinda busy but my traps are 1 foot square and 30 inches long. And just a tip or two that might help is box the trap in with just a little brush and kind of cover the wire in the bottom with leaves or dirt. They get kind of spooky when they feel the wire under their feet at first. I usually just put some at the front part of the trap. Also the brush isn't to hide the trap just keep them from climbing on top of it and setting it off prematurely. Here is a pick of one set hope it helps
