My nephew killed his first deer yesterday and wants to take the meet to a processor back home in LA. Deer is quartered currently. Will that suffice or does it need to be bone free? Not bringing the head back, so that's not a concern.

I'm not worried about getting pulled over. More so concerned that a processor may reject it.

TIA.

My suggestion then is to call that processor and see what their requirements are.

Only processor that requires deboned that I’m aware of is Micky brown’s. Otherwise it’s a CWD thing and I don’t know about TX to LA

Just remove meat from the bone and not worry about it.

No brain or part of nervous system can come across state lines (backbone).

Quartered deer with leg bones are fine.
Just debone the lil bit of meat from neck and your good to go.

Better brush up on the de-boning laws in TX baw.

At one time, it was unlawful to de-bone unless it was for immediate consumption.

Texas law-

Meat is processed no further than whole muscles and may not be ground, chopped, or sliced.
Meat from multiple deer must remain in separate bags or containers while transported.
Proof of sex and tagging requirements remain with the meat until reaching a final destination.
