quote:Pretty sure this is all correct. The trailer has been a nightmare from day one. Already replaced all brake components except master cylinder(no longer working) and the hub deal mentioned above.
If you think the axles shifted on you it may happen again so new tires may not help. Isn't the spring just a piece of rubber that absorbs the bumps. Could be dry rotted

And those are from the seller. Hoping it's just a matter of poor tire choice by someone before me.

Manufacturer will send me new parts at cost. I need the axle and trailing arms for sure. Not sure if spindles come with that or not. Need to go talk to my brake/trailer guy.

Still haven't put the Nautic Star decals on?
Posted on 8/8/12 at 1:42 pm to Boats n Hose
Oh, no. All the decals went on quickly. It was pretty easy. Those pics are from the original ad on The Sportsman.

If they weren't, I was gonna say I do it for you if I was in the area in exchange for a sacalait trip. And you'd have to call it a sacalait trip, at least one time.

I'll take you on the trip for free, but State Statutory law requires white perch.

I found that info as an outdoorsman.

I had these changed from oil bath to grease. Did you not follow that thread? Oil hubs have been mostly a disaster with boat trailers from what I can tell. Mine would never stay full, no one here has parts and you could fry an egg on my hubs after a short trip.

It's not oil bath. Did you read the link? I talked to Mike Gerald. (Owner of Mike Gerald's trailer depot). Says they started using these about 3.5 years ago and have not had a single hub failure on one yet.
ETA: Mr. Gerald explained that the hybrid grease is in solid form and liquifies as it gets hot only to return to solid form again after.

I saw hybrid oil, and quit reading. Anyway, the current issue has nothing to do with the hubs. I just had those reworked.

Axle manufacturer is really helping me out here. getting parts at cost. Problem is, we are having trouble matching what I have. The id plate on the axle was solid rust. 20 treatments of royal jelly and I think I have the right number. problem is, that number matches a leaf spring axle.
Went home to get measurements for an axle worksheet. those don't match the best fit either.

I told my buddy, "You have to get one from this guy"

the axles are encased by rubber inside the square tube...when pressure/weight is applied the rubber cannot twist(cause the tube is square) so the axle that is bonded to the rubber inside just causes the rubber around the axle to flex...

Issue resolved. UFP(Trailer Buddy) could not have been more helpful. After a little bit of trouble matching the numbers on the old one to a new one, I got, at cost, a new axle and two trailing arms. $125 for the axle and $43 for the trailing arms. My brake guy charged me a whopping $80 to install everything. I'm pretty happy about it, and the new tires have way more clearance now.
