Looking further into summer months, what do bass in Toledo do when temps rise? I assume they go deep but could you still catch some shallow?

This weekend was my 1st trip out there, now I’m hooked and want to go back. I don’t have ffs nor plan on getting one so that’s why I’m asking if some stay up shallow.

I think I picked the wrong day, but I really could not get away any other day. Retirement can't come soon enough.

Majority of the fish will go a little deeper in the summer. Not as deep as the winter bite (due to thermocline) but there are always some fish shallow in the summer

Saturday we did ok in 4-10 feet of water. Sunday about 10 am we were fishing on edge of a little cove and saw one swirl real shallow. Eased in there and saw two on beds. Caught a 4.5 and two males really quick. Couldn’t get the other female and caught several more on a stretch of bank that had alligator grass in 2 feet of water Only alligator grass we saw but they were in it

Thanks. About to hit a stretch where I do stuff around here. I can't pass up the perch under cork thing because it's one of my favorite activities ever. That means fewer chances to drive over there. I still haven't found reliable banks at Toledo to do it.

Funny you say they. I feel exactly the same way. It’s as though they never go to hard cover are hard bottom near the banks. My camp is on a perfect cove that should be loaded but never is. Hope you find that stretch one day.

Any updates on fishing? Who’s been lately?
I’m headed up after I get back from offshore. I hope the bass will still be 2ft-3ft

This week pushed them back out some but by,I’d week next week it should be back right. We had to go scope in 40’ to catch fish the past couple days.

For those coming to the lake this week, we caught close to a 30lbbag yesterday livescoping in 35’. All on a Yamamoto scope Shad. But today they are finally biting in the grass. One of our guides has caught 3 over 5lbs already this morning on a Toledo gold trap. This weekend should be unreal.

I think my confidence level with bass fishing has fallen so low that I cannot handle the thought of going and doing poorly.

The crappie fishing has been very tough for us the past week. I’ve actually caught more of them in open water in 25-40’ than we have moving up.

Do you think all the rain tomorrow will push the bass back out deep again for a few days? Was wanting to head up to the camp for a few days but the weather has me 2nd guessing that...

Went Saturday. Fished a couple points for bass and nothing. Checked some brushpiles for white perch and didn’t see any There were balls of shad with fish sitting close to the bottom in 40 feet of water bottom but couldn’t get them to bite. Let it warm up a little and checked an area I catch white perch spawning. It was touching 60 degrees and I tried all the bushes and cypress trees I normally catch them on and didn’t get any That afternoon the temp hit 62 in one cove and I caught 7 bass on a wacky worm in 2-5 feet of water
