Title Transfer on a Boat and Trailer Question

Does the boat transfer have to be done with wildlife and fisheries and not a title transfer place? I bought a boat from a friend few months ago and we're trying to transfer the title tomorrow. Some lady just confused me saying the boat has to be done with wildlife people.

I just called them. Basically, i have to send them a copy of notarized bill of sale with registration application from with reg. fees. I don't have to worry about taxes cause it's already registered in LA.

For the boat, you can go to WL&F web site and down load the reg form. No taxes on used boats if it was reg here.
The trailer you will have to go to DOT. What ever you payed for it, you will have to pay taxes on it along with tag cost. A $50 trailer cost me $53 in taxes/reg/lic plate.

Bought my boat from out of state from a private seller. By law, I didn't have to pay any taxes.
But, because backwards arse Alabama doesn't require registration for trailers under a certain footage I had to get the trailer inspected by the state police. Also, even though I didn't have to pay taxes I still had to get tax forms from the state and the parish to satisfy the registrations for WLF and the DMV. Probably spent more in gas driving around Nola and St. Tammany than I would have spent in taxes.

Did the lifetime registration for $70. Walked out somehow totaling a 158 bill and that doesn't include a $47 fee for registration with wildlife and fisheries. We only put a $100 value on trailer too. Whatever.
It's all done, mailing stuff to wildlife and fisheries. I was happy i didnt' have to pay sales tax on a boat (even though i would have lowered "sale price" of the boat).
