Yeah I’m thinking wheat/rye just to have something pretty. We can bait so that’s not the main purpose

As others have mentioned, make sure you stay away from mixes with rye GRASS. You want cereal rye.

I hunt in South Texas, my food plots are yellow and they get scattered around by a feeder

This food plot is 100% Big Tine Buck Brunch throw and grow.

This photo was taken in mid January. It was one of the better looking plots all season last year.
It’s probably about 4” tall in this picture.
We did chop the plot before throwing it out though.

Checked on my plots yesterday. One went briefly underwater and I lost part of, the other got great germ and looks great.

You would be better off throwing out some wheat right before a rain.

If it will sprout in the bed of a truck it will grow in your neglected field.
