If it isn’t that big of a deal, why can’t I have it? Why can’t I have an m249 in the military configuration? I know I can buy a semi auto version, but I want a fully auto version.

You want to know why you cannot buy a military issued machine gun? Allowing those things on the streets would be beyond reckless.

If you are a closet gun control advocate throwing out outlandish ideas to make 2a look bad then that's pretty shitty. Do most 2a guys want military machine guns on the streets?

It might not be military grade, but honestly all that's buying you is more reliability. Not like street criminals are on month long missions with their firearms they need to function in horrid conditions. So, if that's the case, they are all getting their glock switches and other conversions anyway to get their driveby done.

I really don't think of full auto as something I ever want as a useful tool for myself. Even my military family members say their only real benefit is suppressive fire. I really don't see them being available as changing things all that much. I can admit it may be a bad thing for a mass shooting scenario. But even still I don't know if it'd be much worse than a more controlled semi-auto mag dump. And no matter how horrible that is, it's basically giving up your freedom for safety, and I have a problem with that. Not to mention that the issue causing the violence needs to be addressed, not the tool used to execute it. There will always be another tool.

In certain environments you dont need to aim to inflict mass casualties. The controlled pair would be unnecessary. The shooter using the bump stock at the outdoor concert didn't have to work very hard to inflict mass casualties. He just sprayed. On top of that a 249 can have 100 round mags.

I think the issue is exactly why we don't need them around. We both agree that issue needs to be addressed. Ive read somewhere that our population has doubled since 1950, but the number of people committed to psychiatric hospitals have halved. There are too many crazies walking around.

No, but I do want non military machine guns on the street. The military holding them does nothing for me.
