The link is from November of last year. So I wondered, “How’s it going with this thing?”

Apparently, the bill was introduced in the Senate on November 30, 2023, and referred to the Senate Committee on Finance the same day. And there has been nothing since. Congressional Record

Doesn’t seem like anyone is actually coming for anything.

You demonstrated perfectly that you're exactly who I said you were.

It's an M4. He can buy them. Sure he cannot buy a full auto M4, but he already knows why.

Light infantry service members dont even need full auto M4 so what's the fuss about?

Who made your "M4" and where'd you buy it?

You're showing your inexperience. Let me guess...four years Army infantry, maybe a reservist, 1-2 deployments sitting in a guard tower, CIB from some a-hole popping a couple rounds at you and hauling arse?

Colt and Gunbroker.

Not bad but no.

If the combat load is 210 and you're using the argument that bursts and full auto are okay then I raise your own inexperience questions.

a few things:

1) optic placement
2) missing the third pin hole
3) knock off Knights Armament M4 RAS / Probably a Midwest Industries Quad Rail
4) 16" barrel vs 14.5"

that's nitpicky though... maybe.

The Colt M4A1 SOCOM Carbine returns for 2023. This classic US Military Reproduction closely replicates the markings and configuration of the M4A1 SOCOM Carbine. (2013 Configuration)

closely replicates and identical are buzzwording

Is it even legal to buy one with a 14.5 inch barrel?

Nobody even cares it goes bang just like the service issued rifle when it needs to. Stop being retarded

it is if you pin and weld the muzzle device.

BCM makes an enlongated A2 flash hider for this purpose.

the Colt M4A1 SOCOM has the 14.5" barrel with a pin and weld flash hider.

it's the proper SOCOM profile, too, so you can put an M203 grenade launcher on it.

Yeah, I saw the rifle you posted. That isn't an M4.

Right, but I'm close. Your posts give you away.

Nothing inherently wrong with it, but you're only speaking from your experience and even that is likely based on folks who trained you who cut their teeth in the 90s, maybe even the 80s.

So you're one of those build a gun guys.

It's not that serious to me.

I only see marginal differences.

Right. This is a rifle made for collectors and LARPers.

Yeah. Someone's just trying to signal to their base, without actually trying to do anything. Typical political BS grandstanding.
