Buddy of mine has that motor and I have to say it runs good. Was going bout 20mph in a 19' crawfish skiff Saturday night with 6 people in the boat. Only used reverse once to get off the bank so I can't really tell how that motor is in reverse. Now I do have a friend that crawfishes out of his pd and never has problems with his. Must have 4-500 hrs on his motor.

I never realized how heavy those things are.

Picking up my GTR37xd Friday morning. We should be finishing up the boat build in the next two weeks. Will let ya know how she runs...sneak pic

You shouldn't need to run 6000rpms in reverse to get out of a duck pond. The instant reverse is no slouch
Because @6000 rpms the GTR would have 3 yards of mud on driver and in boat. No one has mentioned Lillie's? Hands down PD wins. Only drawback is speed, but I'll sacrifice a little speed for performance, I'm not racing anyone to a spot.

No difference in powerhead on the GTR XD in comparison to the 37 EFI's that have been out.. They are the same.. The only difference on the XD and the previous 37's is they went back to the old style lower unit instead of the cast lower and changed the tiller to include the trim switch in the handle..

Out of curiosity why are the catwalks angled like that/held up with welded square tube bracing and cut in sections instead of being one continuous run? If that's the case it seems like the integrity of the catwalks will be weak, which would almost render them useless unless they're just for looks.. Is there a reason they did it that way? Just a question/observation because I've never seen that..

I angled them like that so that they'd be a true 8" all the way from the rear to the front, following the contour of the boat. I think it came out looking pretty neat. They're in 4' sections due to us (unfortunately) only having the 4' break you see in the pic. They will be braced every 18" or so with 1" square tubing cut on 45's tucked underneath so you wont see them. We've done this on the past two boats, and they're extremely sturdy. Once covered with hydroturf, ya can't tell.
Yeah, yeah....fuel tank in the rear. We will be fab'ing it up as well. Just stuck the plastic one there for fitment.

Got a buddy with a small shop. He, myself, my brother, and a few other friends.

You will regret the tank in the back.. Boats are ALL about load placement/weight distribution.. make it a pain in the arse to fill up/get to your drain plugs too.. Why'd you close in your front deck? Dry storage?

Yeah, mainly for dry storage. Tank won't be built-in, so can be moved up there if need be. Plug is opposite of tank, and fill cap will be run to a convenient fill spot.
