I'm guessing from 2000 to maybe 2010 or so. Must like the cold, she's in CO. now.
We've probably crossed paths. I frequented from 2001-2004. I was drunk most of the time though...

From what I understand, Mt. McKinley isn't very technical. Foraker is more technical. Issues with Denali are mainly related to weather and stamina.

They really do have a cat for a mayor. There was an "assassination attempt" on the mayor this summer by a dog (probably paid by the mayors rivals) but the mayor somehow survived and is back to doing ceremonial duties.

That and having 3 weeks+ vacation time.

Alaska Mountaineering School does a 17 day Foraker trip.
LINK
Mount Hunter is also a challenge. It's the hardest 14,000 ft. peak in N. America according to those experienced in climbing. Hunter is more challenging than McKinley from what I understand.
Foraker, Hunter, McKinley

Why do you think she put that much distance between us?

Roger is that a yote that guy is using for a hat or a wolf?? Is it considered cool to leave the feet and legs on?

Probably wolf. They sell them to tourist like that.

Went to talkeetna via railroad about seven years ago. My soon to be six year old was conceived there in a cabin
Nice town that we enjoyed. If you've seen Snow Dogs, it was set there. They captured the strange natives well IMO

Northern Exposure is a good primer for Talkeetna.

I went up to Talkeetna in the summer of 94 while I was in college at Auburn. A buddy and I went into this bar there one night and it was one of those small bars where everyone turns and looks at you when you come in. There was this dude playing the hell out if the piano and after a couple of songs the music stops and this guy walks over to the dude playing and sticks his hands under the guys arms and lifts him up. The guy playing had nothing from the waist down. The big guy carried him over to the bar and sat him on a stool where he drank a few beers. Then the guy carried him back to the piano and he resumed playing.
One of the girls that sat down at our table said that the guy with no legs would "walk" to the bar with his hands in the snow with no gloves on. His arms were long enough that he could walk with his arms straight down without his torso touching the ground. One of those things I will never forget.

Holy cow...
Yeah, some of those places have some unusual folks that leave an impression on you. Got some great memories of that area, Talkeetna and Trapper Creek.

I was impressed at the quality of women in the contest. Much better looking than expected.

When we were in the bar I noticed on the wall they had up a photo spread in Playboy magazine titled "The Girls of Talkeetna".

I saw a guide service that does 18 but they say they typically go over due to weather. It says to add 5 days.
Either way it's a definite commitment. One that I hopefully get to take on one day.

Yeah, weather is the main issue in either the Alaska Range or the St. Elias Mts. A week delay isn't out of the question.
