I just watched the live video. Don't mean to speak ill of the dead but Ward was being stupid. He walked out into the middle of a race track.

I don't believe your speaking ill, you are just stating a fact. I also agree with you whole heartily, it was extremely dangerous on his part, bit he is a twenty year old race car driver, he isn't/wasn't mature enough to make the right decisions.

The fact that the guy was young and "not mature enough" doesn't make Tony Stewart a murderer.
Smoke is one of the absolute best car drivers in the world. He's driven every type of racecar in his career and excelled at every stop he's made. He drove the late models last night because he loves being behind the wheel. I firmly believe he had no idea Ward was out on the track and didn't see him on the short track until the very last split second and it was a complete fluke accident.
I also believe that Tony Stewart's career is officially screwed for a long time until the facts are known and the smoke clears. All of this is completely unfortunate because the guy got out of his car and threw a fit for being spun out. Rubbing is racing and it unfortunately ended badly for all parties.

One of my childhood friends has worked on Tony's crew for 11 years now. He and I are 12 days apart and his mom and my mom were college roommates and still very good friends today. She told my mom this morning that Tony was completely beside himself all night and this has impacted many lives, to say the least.
I have no dog in the hunt, but know for certain that Smoke can drive the wheels off of a race car. There's no way he, or any other professional driver for that matter, used his car as a weapon to run over another driver. They may have their on track disputes, but they all respect each other in their profession knowing every time they take the green flag could mean the last time they ever do it. Tony Stewart is a multi-millionaire many times over and has entirely too much to lose to run over another driver in a dirt track race that costs him more money to get to and leave from than the winner leaves with.
