The amount of deer in this plot has been awesome! 4-5 bucks at a time chowing down. Hopefully they still there mid September for velvet weekend.
What do you guys do when converting to a fall plot? Cut and spray and then go back 2-3 weeks later to till and plant? Do you have to spray? Can you just cut and till?
Plan to hunt September 13-15 and cut after I'm done hunting. Usually like to plant last weekend of September/first weekend of October pending rain pattern for south MS.

You can cut and disc however when the roots are still alive it's sometimes harder and more time consuming to break the ground up. Many people do a "burn down" where they spray to kill everything in the plot then let that sit for 1-2 weeks depending upon what you spray and your residual on the chemicals. Once everything is nice and crispy the ground tends to break up a little easier. That's how most do it.
We have gotten away from chemicals at our place so we use a drill and a crimper in place of disc and spray rig. Weeds will continue to be a problem for us for a while but we will see what the process looks like in a another 3 years playing the long game.

That’s pretty much what I’ve been doing. Plan to just do the same. Would love to get away from having to spray.
