We hunted about 15 miles North of there this morning and had a great hunt. All the fields are locked up so I would try and find some moving water if I were you.

Sounds like you might be close to my boss's camp in Holly Grove. I haven't spoken to him to see how they've done the last few days, but I know it's picked up since the beginning of the season

Heard theres not too many ducks, but the specks are flying?

Just got back from Stuggart, it was slow. Some new ducks came in with the front but the wind and weather had them sitting.

Plenty of geese though

About 75 miles north of stuttgart, we’ve got 1.5”-2” of ice in the woods and sheet ice on the open water and big roads. I ran the ice eaters for about an hour this afternoon and as it opened up mallards and gadwalls and pintails were all over the place. I imagine if you’ve got open water near stuttgart you will have some ducks this weekend.

As much as I love Arkansas, Stuttgart is completely overrated these days. Don't waste your time.

We came back to the Ozarks and pond-jumped more ducks in two hours than we got all weekend in Stuttgart.

It's dry as a bone.

Our speck hunt was OK, but not worth the $800.

Cancel if you can.

I consistently hear big stories from NE OK and SE Kansas which destroy anything I've gotten in Stuttgart the past four years.

big stories from NE OK

We just got back from OK yesterday. Made it up there just in time for the dawn of the new Ice Age on Thursday. It was 13 degrees with a good 30 mph wind that was steady out of the North. We set up for geese in a cut corn field and it was maybe the coldest waterfowl hunt I have ever been on. If it wasn't for the somewhat limited wind protection of a layout I would have cried uncle at about 8 AM. Pretty steady 1's and 2's action on little Canadas and Specks. I think we ended up with 20 plus some Mallards. Just couldn't get the big groups to commit.

The rest of the days were spent chasing ducks hunting small farm ponds and little reservoirs. Obviously everything was locked up but the outfitter put out ice eaters and ran them 24/7. We managed to do real good on ducks but we didn't get near the Mallards we thought we would get given the sub-freezing temps. Strangely, we killed way more Pintails, Greys, and Widgeon than Green. I like Oklahoma since it is way different than the marsh and rice we hunt down here in SE TX but the main reason we go is to shoot Mallards and just like our OB broken record sings, there just aren't many out there.

The more I hear about OK the more I want to make a trip up there. I will say in La in my few times hunting this year in La, there were sprigs everywhere. They must be benefitting from the limit being dropped to one per person. Still though, can't complain about a hunt like you described, sounds like a blast, albeit pricey.

Had a big farm in lake village and we got out of that because it got so bad. Used to slaughter em in there now I’m back exclusively in Venice and it’s even getting hard to kill down here now... We just don’t get ducks down this way now. Kansas/Oklahoma is the place to be that’s the new Stuttgart.
