Good friend of mine got 3 limits on Sat north and east of Stuttgart.

Only problem is that it was 3 limits of all spoonbills.

A buddy up in Arkansas (not Stuttgart) but the delta was saying they'd been doing good. But who knows. This cold front ought to push some birds into Ark and La, but man will never understand the mind of duck.

It seems that even Stuttgart isn’t what it used to be. I have never been, but I just hear it is more geese and shovelers than anything else.

That's the whole MS river delta now, LA MS and Ark.

Buddy went last weekend to their lease up there and brought their stuff home for the season. No ducks around up there either. Was going to Venice this weekend but another buddy was there Mon/Tues and shot 1 duck between 2 hunters in 2 hunts. Still killing some upriver around Baptiste I believe.

Nobody likes a quitter. We are still chasing them, if the conditions are right we have been beating on them in the timber. Rice fields have been down this year for sure.

I was with a guy yesterday that is from Ark and has a primo place, they aren't even hunting any after today sat. Their best blind this year has a total of 30 ducks - 3 years ago nearly 300 from same blind.

well managed and low pressure.

I was in NE la yesterday evening thought for sure I'd see some moving ahead of the front all I saw was a few necks and a behemoth of a buck.

Nah, some people are just reasonable when it comes to their lease. They don't hunt public land. No reason to sit on your lease when there are no ducks coming. Glad you have been killing them in the timber.

Talked to a guy yesterday who has a place close by. Said it's been real slow last few weeks.

Either wasn’t primo or wasn’t hunted enough.

out of curiosity, how much are leases up there? Or is it an, if you have to ask you can't afford it, type thing? Or having to know the right people?

The ones you will find available are between 6-8K. They will be advertised as 250-500 birds a year. They are available for a reason.

This is always the right answer.

Figured that was the case. I'm not in any position to do that, nor really want to, but I have always been curious. It seems from youtube that you can hunt public land timber in Arkansas if you have a boat and are willing to scout and wait in line.

I hunt outside of Jonesboro. The St. Francis spilled into the adjacent soybean/rice fields. We fricked em up. It didn’t get good until Saturday afternoon when all the weather pushed in

I'm headed to Stuttgart/Dewitt area in an hour, from NWA. We hunt near Crockett's Bluff on an oxbow off the White River. We will also get a speck hunt in.

Geese are easy 10-1 there. Might as well choot a few of those while we are down.

I've never gone this late in the season so I don't know what to expect. Weather looks like it will be good, though.
