Had a flyer in the mail about permanent steel siding...but Ive no idea about the pros and cons of this. Anyone know anyone whose done this or your thoughts on this. Pictures look good.

Steel rust in South Louisiana...

I wouldn't want it just for the heat retention during the summer months. Hell, in the direct sun, my painted cypress wood siding gets hot to the touch, steel would likely be hot enough to be very uncomfortable to touch.

Steel is tough and does not deteriorate from the sun like vinyl...the negatives are that it rusts and will get dented all to hell in a hailstorm or something like that.

There's a house behind mine that has aluminum siding and it's been on the house for a few decades now. Back in the late 90's a hail storm blew through here and dumped golf ball size hail. That house looks like it was parked on a driving range and used as a target for a couple months. There's not a single piece of siding that is not dented.
