Stain for exterior non-pressure treated wood

I’m building something for the back yard out of scrap and being cheap, need to use a bit of non-pressure treated wood.
Any recommendations on stain or sealer that will keep it from going to hell for about 5 years or so?

Used motor oil

I think used motor oil and diesel mixed together with actually treat it the wood and keep it from toting for a long time
