I really know next to nothing about 1911's. I have decided that will be my next gun purchase so I guess I am just starting my education.

Me too apparently.

Maybe I'm not following, which is very possible. Are you saying that Colt sold its old equipment to Metro Arms so that Metro Arms could build its guns in the Philippines?

You are not saying that Colt has been making its guns overseas though?

Ok, I thought you were implying that Metro Arms was building guns for Colt in the Philippines.

Misunderstanding I guess.

Works for me. It's just a Ruger on Buds. Good looking pistol.

yep, i'm a colt fan, the only one that i own was made in 1939, its a colt 1903 in 32 ACP.

colt took a hit in the mid 80's around the end of the cold war when their employees went on strike for over 5 years, that is still the only blemish on their outstanding reputation for quality. coincidently that is also why glock got so popular

I read the same things about Metro Arms having Colt machinery/tools.

What is the ideal beginner 1911. Not the entry level. 5" Barrel, SS Frame, Beavertail, Skeleton Trigger/Hammer, Match Barrel.

What is the sweetest price point / brand value.
$600-$750

KR,
What do you know about the SW E-Series Scandium frame? I really think I have asked you this before, but the external extractor seems better. Is this true. S&W and Sig uses them.

Ruger sr1911 seems to be the best bang for your buck.

it has a reputation for being slightly more reliable, i just don't like the way it looks to be honest.

That E Series SC is the one I want. The Bobtail too.

I don't really know much about their "Proprietary Alloy" though. This has me concerned. I also keep stalling with the thought that they will bobtail a SS E Series.
