Although I’ve never encountered one in the wild it’s well documented louisiana has tarantulas. I was in SW MS hunting a few years ago and was getting into my double ladder stand. I fold down the seat and sort of just stand in amazement as I am looking at a scorpion. Now it wasn’t very big but I went down this rabbit hole of figuring out what scorpions exists in Mississippi and Louisiana. And there are some in both states.

We definitely have scorpions here in Rapides Parish. My parents added on to their house and apparently some hatched a few weeks after the addition was completed. We had them in the house for a few weeks. I still don’t know how they got into the house.

Yeah this guy was not far from Rapides parish where the scorpion story would have been. I have never seen one personally here but I'd prefer to keep it that way. I also don't want to find anymore tarantula's. Black widows and brown recluses are a big enough problem here.

We used to catch tarantulas in Arkansas when we went to Heber Springs as a kid. I caught one and we brought it back to keep in my mom's 5th grade classroom when I was in grade school.

Also used to see scorpions when I lived in the FL Panhandle. I'm guessing they're also in the other Gulf Coast states
