I'm sure they've improved the velocity since then. Even if it may be a bit outdated, I still think it's a good option if none of the others are available. Many perps are in the ground because of Hydrashoks.

If you ever want to take a class, the guy that wrote that trains under Unity Tactical. Range is in Hammond. I took his tactical medicine class and highly recommend it.

k Apple, just finished watching your videos, ill definitely want a apex trigger, because if im in a situation where someone is coming at me i want a fast reset trigger so i can put multiple rounds in them, plus i like a lighter trigger.
now a question about the caliber.
i shot 9mm this past weekend, i have shot them a few times here and there, and thats all i have shot, im comfortable with them, which is really important to me. should i try a 40? or should i stick with what i know and like? will a 40 have better results? more stopping power? dont want to run the risk of having some crackhead not go down with 2 shots from a 9mm, or am i being paranoid? i honestly dont know how different caliber rounds do when dealing with actually shooting an intruder

I have another video called "caliber wars and stopping power" and I explain how the term is very loose. It is only relevant when comparing a pistol to a rifle or shotgun.
There are two ultimate ways to kill a threat:
1. Shot to central nervous system (CNS)
2. Bleed out/lack of oxygen (if shot in lung)
Only #1 will be a real "stop" though. If you pierce someone's spine or brain stem, you are literally disconnecting the "wire" that connects the brain to the extremities.
If you hit the perp anywhere else, you are relying on the perp's perception of the pain, or him/her bleeding out to actually "stop" him/her. But, this doesn't guarantee an immediate STOP. Only a CNS shot does.
So to answer your question, 9mm = 40S&W = 45ACP with today's powder technology. Just choose a good hollow point and go from there.
If you want the ability to shoot at the range for cheap but still prefer a bigger bore, get the M&P40 and you can pop in the factory S&W 9mm barrel at the range to save some dough. I talk about this in my video.

i think im going to go with the 9mm 5 inch barrel .
now i was told many stores wont have the exact model im looking for, can i have someone like cabellas or bass pro order the model i want? or am i just going to have to track one down since supplies are limited now?

Well the only models with a 5" barrel are the 9L and the 9Pro. The 9Pro has some other features (better sights, better trigger) and costs a bit more but it does have the 5" barrel. I have never seen a regular 9L in person.
So the short answer, yes it will be harder to find a 5". The standard 4.25" M&Ps are the popular ones that you see everywhere.
I would say your best bet would be to check some online dealers and find a good place to transfer it close to you. You have to get the online seller to send it to a dealer, and then there you fill out the paperwork. You could also put a "wanted to buy" add out on armslist.com and you may get some responses.
But doing a regular internet search, this is the closest I could find:
M&P9L CORE
CORE stands for "combat optics ready edition" (or "competition optics ready equiptment"; I've heard both) and the gun includes a cutout on the slide to add a red dot sight. It also comes with textured backstraps and a pro series trigger. It really is tops, but the price is much higher than a standard 9L.

i think im going to try to find the 9 pro.
the one i did research on came with night sights, which would be a plus for what im using it for. i know its going to take a while to find, just lining everything up

Yea, it's pricey and more geared toward competition shooters. Understandable if you wish to forgo it.

i bought the 40 back in July. Here's some great info. S&W sells the 9 & 40 in what they package as a range kit. comes with case, gun, backstraps,3 mags, mag loader, range holster for gun and one for 2 mags. I got the kit for $540 when the gun itself was almost $500. My dealer didn't even know they sold them like that. check it out on the S&W website.
