Yeah, they are usually short and fat. I've seen a bunch, but never one 5' long.

yeh...he was large! That was one of the reasons I doubted it was a cottonmouth. The ones Ive seen in the past seem to be fat as hell once they got up above 3 1/2 to 4 ft long. Of course this guys was fat too. He was a big one. I set up my game cam pointing towards the ground next to the feeder. Ive got pictures of rats with it before so I should be able to pick him up next time he slithers across. I put a coke can out there for size comparison if I catch a picture of him. Those pictures dont do much justice to the size because there is nothing to scale him to and the back 1/3 of his body was out of sight.

This reminded me of a CSB of mine.
When I was 6 or 7 I was squirrel hunting with my papaw and we walked up on a 5 or 6 foot Diamond Back. Long story short the rattler had eaten a squirrel and my papaw picked it up by the tail, put it in a cardboard box, and took it to the Little Rock zoo. They had it in the snake display for 3 or 4 years.
