Shimano Stradic 4000..........

good reel, buy it. Im not a big fan of spinning reels either but they have a time and a place.

That's a lot of reel, what's ya fishin' for?

I've caught reds up to 30lbs on a Stradic 4000. They can easy stop bigger reds.

I don't doubt it, but it's overkill or most trout/reds you'll catch

for what its worth i fish with a Stradic 2500 on a falcon coastal - after 4 years i have zero complaints and would buy another one just like it tomorrow without hesitation. Very easy to maintain too. Ive surf fished, caught trout and reds, jigged for flounder, fished nearshore rigs for small snapper and even use it for bass fishing. its a very versatile set-up.
