So is it just open land and you are given an certain area? Do you need waders?

What happens to the blinds people build the week before?

sometimes folks will leave some cut brush shoved in the bottom...

but best to bring your own materials. i wear chest waders but in some places you can get away with hip boots probably

Absolutely.

You can't build a "permanent" blind. And I wouldn't go banking someone else left brush out there for you.

Like I said earlier, we took a piece of hog wire with grass woven in it in and out with us. Back up to a levee or some natural scrub brush and prop up the hog wire with sticks in front of you. An 8 foot long piece of hog wire is perfect...

Yeah, another good idea. We sat on the levee one morning and ended up moving into the middle of the pond next to 2 button willows after sun up. shite got real then...

Thanks for all the info, I feel like I have a significantly better understanding of the hunting.

Just curious, how close do they put the hunters together?

Look on google maps satellite images. The levees for the most part are the boundaries. Where you situate yourself is up to you, but the rule states you can't be set up closer than 100 yds or something like that from the levee (to keep people spaced out).

The time we didn't get picked, we were back home in bed (in BR) with enough time to fall asleep before the sun came up.
