I planted some sesame seeds this past weekend for doves. I have never seen a sesame plant that I know of, but read it is a really good attract for doves.

Anybody had any luck with it?

Never planted them but I shot several daily limits over them in south Texas. Doves were thick.

Plant sesame for dove annually to be used during last split Dec/Jan. Puts out a large amount of seed. Best results if you can keep the ground clean.

The plants always get in the way when I am hauling 12’ 2X4’s laterally with my ATV from one end of the field to the other right before the split starts.

I planted a strip about 8 yards wide and 80 yards long.
Also will have milo and millet. It is in strips around a 20 + rows of corn, I will add big areas of wheat as well.

From what I have gathered I just need to leave the sesame alone until later in the year. I sowed it, so it will have to choke the weeds out on its own, until its time to spray it.

I planted sesame a few years ago. Keeping them relatively clean from grass and weeds is very difficult. There are very few herbicides labeled for sesame.
