I drove by the other day and the showroom was still full of boats. I thought the flood took them out as they never really looked open since.

I’m good friends with the salesman there..long story short. The owner got an offer for property and building so he took the offer. They didn’t close due to lack of sales or business. The owner was a friend of my dads and they been in the business a long time. My dad has a Cajun special pirouge made by them from the 70s all aluminum. I guess eventually it was an easy choice when someone walks in and offers to buy it all..

Idk if it’s gunna be a boat dealer...didn’t ask that but that’s what happened

Speaking of Cajun Special, was aquamarine the main dealer? I see them on the used market but there’s almost no info about them online. Seems like every one has an aquamarine sticker on it.

They made them. We bought one in 1997 with a Yamaha 75. That thing is still fishing strong.

My first boat was a Cajun Special from Aquamarine--loved it! I believe they were the main dealer.

Aqua Marine built them for years.

I use to buy used 14ft Cajun specials 90 era boat, weld an alum pole platform, fix up the 30 hp Yamaha, get trollmotor working, and bring it to Florida to fish the keys for a week or two. It was a great shallow water boat and not that expensive. I think new it went for $4,995.

Then before I left I would sell the boat for small profit between $200 to $500 to not have to drag the boat home.

Actually they never recovered from the flood. They redid half the showroom but never had any mechanics running service. Can’t last as a dealer without a service department.
He put it up for sale and someone came calling quick. The boats are leaving a little day by day.

It’s going to be a Servpro location opening in late March.

They seem like awesome little boats, not a lot of the big companies have much of a focus on that 14-17ft range besides maybe xpress. Would hate to see them be done for good.

Sorry you are poor and can not afford to do it.

I bought 7 of them used usually less than $1,000.
Weld alum poling platform $300 in materials and labor free as I can weld alum.
Most of the engines carb work less than $200 to buy kits and rebuild.
New trailer bearings $40
New tires $200
Boat ready to go.
Taxes on trailer maybe $100 and fees.
$1,850 on avg and list it on a few websites a week before you go for around $2,500 neg.
You will get around $2,100 to $2,200 cash.
Use the boat Mon, Tues, Wed, and demo it typically on Thurs or Friday a day or two before you leave.
Bam, it is done and you do not have to drag it back.
I sold 7 that way.

Small, most older people have them sitting in a garage not being used cheap to buy, easy to get in some of those back canals, and had shallow draft.

Their service was terrible. Even though I was a paying customer with a boat I bought from them that was under warranty I felt like I was asking them for a favor and putting them out to fix issues with the boat.

Not remotely surprised at this news. If you can’t provide adequate service you shouldn’t be in the business.

Too bad they won't sell the plans to a local fabricator so they can make the boats. Does anybody remember the Louisiana Traveler made/sold by Fred Parnell's Sport Shop?
