Rock Island 1911 - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

I am looking at a Rock Island to purchase..Very decent price and I have heard some good things. Still not ready to pull the trigger though. :rimshot:

In 3 sentences describe for me what you know about the RI 1911 ..The Good, bad and the ugly

I personally would save the money and get a better one, kimber, springfield, etc. I have never seen a Rock Island that I liked. They all look cheaply made.

Shouldve been more specific... I pretty much want the thing to be super reliable and group decent. Other than that I could care less what it looks like.

I have had good luck with cheaper guns though. Stuck my Franchi in the mud about 3 inches. Shot it the rest of the season without cleaning.

This...and after you spend the $ putting all the "right" parts on it you might as well have bought one of the good ones.

i'll have one one day just because you can find them for under $500. they are just a basic GI 1911, i think they make a little bit better model with the beavertail and upgraded novak sights but i could be wrong

I have the Tactical model. I put on Hogue wraparounds. It's a beast, and is flawless through hundreds of rounds.
