If you don't make the drive often, beware when in St. Landry parish. Don't push your luck with the speed limit.
Also, take 190 from BR to Opeleusas, it's faster than I-10 to Laffy. Just watch the speed limits in the small towns.

This, knocks about 20 miles from the trip. SLOW DOWN at Krotz Springs on 190. Also when you get on I-49 go the speed limit or below when you pass through the Washington exit...

yep, slow down and stop at Kartchner's to get cracklins, then go across 190 to get boudin balls at the gas station.

Use to make that trip about every 2 weeks. Only place I'd really stop was a truck stop in Shrev for gas
Oh and all the adult stores on 20

Go eat at bone daddy's!
Basically a BBQ version of hooters with hotter girls and better food!

If you go up to shreveport then to Dallas, take 3132 loop around town. Will save you 15-20 minutes. It pops out on I-20 out west of town
Also, the speed limit on I-20 in Texas is 75. The 1st town in Texas is waskom, DO NOT SPEED through there.

The Waze app gives you up to date cop and traffic activity, but it eats battery life. On a long trip you will need power...

Texas Best Smokehouse- its a gas station/ truck stop. Exit on hwy 271 near Gladewater, assuming you are on I-20.
Great sandwiches, and buy some jerky for the rest of the trip.
