Water Dog.

It's the only one I've read/used so I can't compare it to the others but I loved it and trained a dog that came to be a great retriever by using that one.

Seems that the reviews of all of these different series are all over the place.

I am going to buy a couple different books and then wait on any DVDs until I find a series I like.

Let water dog be your guide and let everything else you read break through barriers or help with issues not covered.

Evan Graham , Farmer, Lardy,Hillman ,all are or were the top pros of the sport. Their DVDs and training material is very similar to the methods most pros use. The water dog book was written by an animal behaviorist who never trained dogs for a living. He was a very good author so his book is persuasive. Most pros and serious ams will steer you tword the modern day programs. Waterdog was great for its time and so was the electric typewriter. If you go to a pro for help, it's much easier for them to figure out your or your dogs issue if your following a mainstream program. I'm a former member of Amite HRC. Great folks with great dog knowledge. I highly recommend joining for those that are able.

I'd also spend some time one YouTube. More you do with them when they are puppies the better. A hungry dog is the best dog. Look at Pat Nolan and related videos

Read them all, you can take something from each one. There is not 1 perfect method. Take your time be paitent. Good genes help more than you may think.
