I've been looking online for some primers and powder lately. I've come across a few sights that say they have stock and when I go to check out they want payment through "Zelle".

Has anyone used Weaponsdepot dot net or firstcrownfirearms before?

Sound like scam sites. No way would I send $$$ through a one way payment system.

Nobody has primers. Most sites that have stock are all scams. Put yourself on email lists for some of the bigger sites and you can get alerts, but even when you get an alert they go really fast.

I'd be VERY cautious of any website that has primers unless I already them. I've been on numerous "notify me" lists for primers yet have yet to see the first one in 1 1/2 years. OTOH, bullets and some powders are beginning to trickle in. For example, last week I bought 8# of Hodgdon CFE 223 from Midway (was sold out by the next AM). 6 weeks before that I bought 3# of Accurate LT-32 and 1# of Accurate 2200 from Midsouth Shooter's Supply. I've also seen some powders on Powder Valley and Graf's. Likewise w/ some bullets, primarily Hornady V-Max bullets.

I’ve been finding them at local gun shops. But you have to go about every weekend.

I order through mid-south shooter supply, graf and sons, midway, Natchez shooter supply. Watch hodgen’s web site, they have powder coming in and will sell 5#’s of one sku/to you per month. At $40/lb.

Even if you can find stuff, The hazmat fees and shipping will crush you on primers and powder.

They are out there, though, even online, but they cost so much nobody will buy them. Came across some rifle primers the other day for $160/1000. They used to be $40. It's highway robbery. People used to be able to Tinker with hunting loads for dirt cheap, but no longer.

I have heard that Bass Pro gets primers sometimes and sells them for about $70/1000, but it's a total crapshoot what comes on their truck and what doenst.

As for websites, there are dead giveaways for scam sites. Just go to their "contact us" section and find the address. It's usually a random industrial building with no signage on Google Street view. Stay away from those.

If one's buying only a pound or two of powder, the S&H and hazmat fee indeed can get expensive. I also try to get a friend or two go in a powder/primer order. It works best if one can order larger quantities of powder. When I bought 8# of CFE 223 from Midway, including S&H and hazmat fees, the total price was about $32/pound. Remember, Midway only charges $13 hazmat fee and frequently has free shipping available for orders >$49, as well. OTOH, my closest powder dealer is selling powders from $45-65/pound. Primers are a different issue entirely since I've not seen online primers that were reasonably priced in 1 1/2 years.

If a website that you've never heard of says they have anything, it's a scam. From reading Reddit, these sites take your money and backorder you. They use your money to make interest. If you read any fine print available, they will refund your payment up to 12 months later if they cant get the product.
