So if I have the equipment and the skill, I shouldn't make a trailer because it'll look too good?

I would assume if this were true you could simply explain it to the trooper and maybe they would come look at the equipment and you would be on your way.

I have a bill of sale and the boat and trailer were both registered until '18.
If the trailer is registered you might have a shot.

Most now can get permanent tags. I have a few without but have a few registered so I might just swap plates now and then. If they run my boat trailer plate it will come back as a 53’ van.

Bump for info..

Wife and I are looking at a used pop up trailer. The gentlemen selling it does not have the title as he is the second owner, however he has the registration from original owner which is expired (registered and buying in Louisiana). Do I have any shot at a title? If not what’s the repurcussion of being pulled over towing it without a lisense plate, or with a plate from my another trailer

Thanks

This is a common problem, in the state of LA the person that can answer your questions and possibly resolve it is a Justice of the Peace, especially one that also does vehicle registration. They can furnish any paper work needed and walk you through the process. They helped me get title to a trailer that was abandoned on my property, the owner was unknown, and the trainer registration was no longer in the registration database.

Thanks. Mind sharing what they charged to do that?

Or just take pics at a few different points throughout the project as proof you built it.

It was not much, if I recall they only charged their standard notary fee for the forms and paperwork.
