Lost my father in law last year. He was a bow hunter and fisherman. I have his recurve bow 54”, arrows, quiver, and old Mitchell reel. I don’t have woodworking tools, just a jigsaw, hand held circular saw, drill…. But I want to honor him and display these items, maybe with his photo, in a large shadow box of sorts. I can’t find any boxes large enough on line, and I’m not going to buy a bunch of special tools, so any suggestions are appreciated on how I can accomplish this project

Maybe simplify a little and find some outdoor type wooden pegs or hooks for the wall. Arrange it with the bow and arrows resting on them in a "decorative" way with a framed picture of him outdoors or with the bow? Or maybe a hunting picture and fishing one with catches, separated beside the bow and reel?

With this method you can have much broader arrangements styles as opposed to a box

Find a local custom cabinet builder. They can do it if they have the time.

Sounds pretty cool.

So the reason I want it in a box is that I thought it would be easier to keep clean as opposed to having to clean the bow, arrows, etc all the time I would just dust the box. But your idea of simplicity intrigues me

I agree with keeping it dust free and using a shadow box. If you don’t want to go down the rabbit hole of buying tools and woodworking have a cabinet shop make you one. Shouldn’t be terribly expensive.

This is just me thinking if I would do something similar for my father... Even though my woodworking skills are rudimentary at best, I would want to be the one to have made a box if you go that route, for sentimental reasons. Maybe you can get a friend to help both with the tools he has and with the construction of it?

ETA: I'm not diminishing having someone else build it for you in anyway. That's just what I would do if it were me

Did a display wall for my PawPaw. Called “Our Story”.
Here is a link to the wall system I used. Very modular. If I could figure out how to post pictures on here, I would send a picture in this post.
If you can find studs in the wall, you can do this.
