No one has mentioned the Timberland Pro Series boots. I have been wearing these for about 10 years now. They are very light weight and wear like a tennis shoe.

If you are going with a lace up, you should give these a look.

I do similar work to what you describe. Work in the office mostly but do estimates and job walks a couple of times a week. There are probably more durable boots out there for every day field use, but for the type of work you describe the Timberlands will be very comfortable and hold up fine.

I've used these in the past and are good boots that are comfortable. Only drawback is the soft soles will crack over time...

My last boots were Georgia... just recently my goddamn socks started getting wet though. I have to have waterproof boots and I bought some Wolverine boots at Academy. I'm about to throw these mfers in the trash. They're uncomfortable and the top rubs against the inside of my leg.

I need a good Wellington boot that's waterproof and soft.

Not sure if they are sold locally to you. I got mine at Patton’s in Ruston, but they are the only slip ons I’ll buy. Really soft and comfortable.

Chippewa Apache slip ons.
