I want to put a radio (music) in my Bay Boat.

Is there a certain brand that will last longer fishing in saltwater?

What about speakers?

I am clueless here.

I have a boss marine radio. It's pretty solid. Had some west marine 6.5s and I blew them so I just put in some kicker impulse 6.5s they sounds really good. Got em for 99 for a pair.

You have any trouble with the saltwater?

You got the radio at West Marine?

JL marine speakers. They sound much better than the clarions we used to have. We still use the clarion radio and have never had any problems with it. Fusion makes a marine radio with an ipod dock that looks pretty cool.

I listened to a bunch of different speakers before I bought some. JL's were thr best sounding, then the kickers then the fusions imo. Those were by far the three best. JL's are the most expensive of the three as well.

My 2006 bay boat came with Boss speakers. I had to install the stereo. I thought for sure I'd have to replace those speakers. Turned out, they sound fine.

We have JLs on each side of the console and they sound great. Haven't pushed them hard yet, but will soon.

I saw that setup not long ago, and I had never thought of that. We have 2 in the electronics box up top and they make a huge difference. You can listen while you're driving without having to crank it up too loud.

I have the side consol speakers. Was thinking wakeboard speakers on top of rail. My head unit is capable of 4 speakers, and I am only running 2 right now.

oh ok, I wasnt sure what you were saying. You would need an amp to run the wakeboard speakers. Something small with no more than 500 watts. The wakeboard speakers are all made to fit a 2 inch bar so you would have to coon toon something for it to work without a T-top

My main questions now would be:

How hard will the saltwater be on them because we fish rough conditions and saltwater often soaks me, so I suppose they will get soaked too.

And then there's the carwash, that will be high pressure water hitting them when i wash the boat.
