Does the "corrosion resistant" finish actually work or is it a waste of money?

Per AI, not quite as good as cerakote, but still a damn good coating. If it is made for salt spray, it is bound to be pretty good. Depends on what you want to use the gun for….

I have one. I kept mine in the protective tube when I knew I would not need it. I gave it no special care and it is in pristine condition. I only used it around fresh water.

I have a maverick 88 I spray painted white probably 25 years ago. It's been submerged in mud, stayed strapped to the rack of an old 4wheeler for months at a time, and been incredibly reliable.
Ive repainted it white once about 12 years ago because I wore through the acrylic hitting trees with the barrel. Soaked it in brake fluid for a month, pressure washed it, went right back to being beat up.
I said all this to say, save 600 bucks and just spray paint the maverick. It has an aluminum receiver. Coat the internals in moly Valvoline grease and it's gonna run.

No experience with that Mossberg but I love my Winchester Marine Defender. Amazingly soft recoil for a light 12 ga pump
