Question about launching out of Port Sulphur

I’ve got to be in NOLA next week an am thinking about dragging my boat. I’ve heard the port sulphur area can be bad on lower units. Is that true? Looking for someplace close to Nola to catch a few. I know lake P is really muddy now. Any advice? Not real familiar with anything east of grand isle. TIA

Hopedale maybe. I've heard the same thing about Port Sulphur.

Launch in Lafitte. You can fish east and west of the Barataria Waterway all the way to GI.

Im actually debating going to GI on Thursday, considering going from Lafite or hauling it down there. Havent decided as I have never been that route through lafite.

Thanks, it just looks like a long run from Lafitte to Grand isle

I think I measured about 30 miles. I did that the other day in Hopedale.

U run Grand Bayou down to Bastian Bay / the coastline. Shouldn’t be any problems there. About a 15 Mile run
You can fish Lake Washington / Ecaille using Freeport canal. The cabal should be ok. Some well heads in the lakes though.
Fishing used to be top shelf more than a decade ago. It’s surely dropped off.

If your going to port sulphur you minus well keep driving and hit Venice instead. Fishing has been hot down here...

You can also launch in Myrtle Grove. The Myrtle grove canal is a relatively straight, pretty easy shot out to Barataria Bay. From there, you can fish all the same areas. Grand Isle is about a 20-30 minute run across the bay, conditions permitting.

Lake Washington is practically open to the gulf at this point. Grande Ecaille and Washington are opened up from erosion.

You need to be careful and use your GPS to stay away from submerged/eroded islands. They also have a ton of old oilfield lower unit lovers in this area.
