I've got a savage model 93 with the bull barrel and thumb hole stock...not crazy about the stock. will a standard model 93 stock bolt right on?
would I have to rout out for the bigger barrel?

Really don't know if one will fit the other. BUT, coming down to stock fit, you want to "float" the barrel. In another words, you should be able to slide a piece of paper in between the barrel and the stock it's self.
Reason, the heat from shooting expands the barrel. Once the barrel contacts the stock, it moves the barrel.

I have a model 93 standard in a different caliber, and they are both floating barrels, but the standard 1 is a left hand, and the bull barrel 1 is a right hand. I shoot left handed.
I thought I could be OK with it, and it works fine for a few shots, but after a while it starts wearing on you.
I got thinking about this earlier today, but I'm not at home, so I can't really look at them to compare them. I'm in Kansas.
Thought somebody on here might have worked on these models a little bit, and might be able to give some info.

I don't know what the availability is on stocks for that gun, but I know stocks for common guns like the rem 700 usually have options for bull barrels.
For Example

What he means is if the stock comes in contact with the barrel it will affect the harmonics of the barrel, throwing off your shot

I looked on the Numrich Gun Parts website and they list a "Heavy Barrel" synthetic stock. That usually means the barrel channel on the standard tapered barrel stock will be too small. That's usually the case with all guns. The heavy barrel synthetic stock lists for $45.75, but it is out of stock. No pun intended.

Thanx, will probably just buy a standard wood stock and mill it out. It might work.
