Do your brake lights come on when your vehicle slows down due to a slower moving vehicle ahead?

It probably doesn’t when the vehicle is only 5 mph slower and the decrease in speed is subtle. But what about quicker slow downs?

There have been a few times when a vehicle ahead is slowing way down to exit off the interstate and my vehicle slows down very rapidly. I was wondering if and when the brake lights come on to alert people behind me?

If the car applied brake it does. If the car "coasts" or stop applying gas, then no brake. No different than if you are driving yourself

I may be the only person who hates adaptive cruise control.

I won't own another vehicle without it. Interstate driving is so easy now. I could legit watch TV on certain stretches of road.

First time I drove with it I got on the interstate in Baton Rouge and around Pascagoula I had this moment of "oh crap, I completely forgot that Im driving".
My brain had gone into full passenger mode. It kinda scared me how detached I had become.
