I brought my Browning 12 pump with a 30" barrel and was told by my dad and another guy that it's not a good idea....

why?

I took their advice and shot one dove

Your pump is prolly worn out and needs to be reprimed, or just forgotten about.

Well it's much easier to shoot a 20 with a shorter barrel. That mfer is too heavy. Has nothing to do with it being a pump

I knew the day was coming, I traded all the old 870's for 1100's and 1187's, my pump is not my problem, my brass just ain't as high as it used to be... And 3 inch MAGNUMS don't seem to be impressive anymore... It's a sad world..

It is heavy as hell. I shoot a Benelli 20

My dad won't let me shoot his A5.

It sounds like a cannon compared to all the other shotguns on the field

The longer barrel should give a better sight plane (notice I did not say aim) Changable chokes or fixed chokes?

Your inability to kill birds is not because of the gun.

You answer the fricking question... There ain't no question to answer!! If you can get into some good dove hunting and can handle the recoil from a pump browning 12 with light dove loads, then what's the problem, what's the question? If you didn't understand what they were telling you, my suggestion would have been to ask them, not us with limited details, capeesh...

Can I handle the kick of it yes. I have many times. Just don't know why they said to use a 20 semi over a 12 pump

They clearly think you're a pussy and can't handle shooting that gun all day.

I'd take a single shot 12 if I wanted to be a man.
