You're being a dickhead. Ever heard of Toledo Bend? 14" minimum. In fact, after about '90 or so, every circuit in central and North La. went to 14" despite State regs. I've seen some big sacks with one 14" fish in them.

If i ever move close to the coast I would. Its just a 3 1/2 to 4 hour drive from Birmingham. I would love to learn more about catching specks and reds.

'm pretty sure the bass masters classic was won on a 3 day stringer of 12" fish a few years back when it was in Pittsburgh... Or atleast something close to that.. The majority of the field didn't fill a bag

Beat me to it. It was KVD in Pittsburgh. I think the 3-day winning total was less than 15 lbs.

lulz. It has nothing to do with shitty fishing, but everything to do with fish management.

I live 45 mins from Lake Fork, and fish it quite often but do you see me trying to sling my dick around in this thread? No. Quit flaming.

What is a green trout?? Is that another name for a largemouth or is it a separate species??

The Gumps will also call largemouths, green trouts.

saltwater fishing has made me weak... When I was a kid, and we were on fish in the spillway in a rare spot that people didn't fish at all... When a boat would come, we'd pick up cane poles and ask them if we were in a certain canal (like we were lost ) now days I tell em I'm catching if I am.. Damn saltwater

I know enough ab this topic to keep him going for a while but for the backup

matter of fact... You would think lay lake would have strict regs to have the size fish it does... Definitely a slot at that... Like I said, biologist do regs based on pounds of fish per sq mile.. And they got some poundage there..
What are the regs on fork?

The only two lakes I know of that have a minimum for bass are Smith Lake and Lake Guntersville. Smith is 14-16 is a NO GO and Guntersville is 15", I think.

The Stripers are the fish that have more attention and have stricter limits.

Lay Lake is on the Coosa River Chain, also includes Jordan, Mitchell, Logan-Martin, and Weiss.

They have a 16-24 slot. 5 bag limit, can keep only one over 24, just like everywhere else with a slot.

It's a damn fun lake to fish... but finding a solid spot can be tricky because there is timber literally everywhere. And if you don't know where you're going and don't know the boat lanes, you can expect a new prop or engine in your near future, and a hell of a lot of paddling.

Additionally, if you are fishing in a circuit environment, all weights count toward, championship/angler of the year/ etc. You want to weigh every legal fish no matter the size. I understand in a one tournament event, there would be no reason for this as long as you were beat. Some tournaments offer prizes for smallest legal fish/lowest weight etc. Back to the point, with bass, close mouth, push against bump board, swipe tail, if it touches line it measures. This is true for minimum lengths as well as the slot. If the slot is 14-17 and tail just touches 14 its a slot fish, if it just touches 17, its an over and legal.
