Rented one of the cabins for the wife and I in late September. Gonna take the yaks and do some fishing. Never been. Anybody got any info on whether the fishing is any good then?

Poverty Point is a true jewel in the state. It is home to many fish and the cabins are extremely nice. Late September you should be able to catch a good bit of catfish, bass, and every crappie in deeper water. Hope you and the little lady enjoy yourselves

That sounds like a blast. I've never been. Where are y'all staying. Can you provide some links. I'd like to check it out.

LSUCouyon has a lil shack out there.
I believe you will be early for the deep winter white perch, but cats and bream can be found. He may know a bass spot or 2 as well.
It's a pretty place. There are some spectacular sunsets! The restaurant at the golf course is pretty good as well.

You may also want to check out the mounds at Epps. Really interesting. Indian tribes from about 15k years ago, trading with other tribes all over the country.
