The smell is only when you paddle up close to it, Im not even concerned about the smell, just mentioned it to validate that it's pulling deeper funkier water.

Im going to do some watershield control with Navigate this Spring to help not add to the muck, so was looking to attack from two sides.

Dont add to existing muck + help speed decay of existing.

OK, that doesn’t sound bad. Good water circulation/mixing, however that is accomplished, is the best resolution to reducing organic matter accumulation, and speeding up organic matter decay. Some info in this article might help you think this through.

I gave a cursory review of the pdf, thanks. I will read it more intently later. This pond doesn't actually suffer from algae blooms. Just watershield (dollarbonnet) around the edges. The watershield is actually great habitat, I don't want it completely eliminated, just controlled. Thanks for all your info, I have appreciated alot of your pond management posts over the last year.
