I got too aggressive with the pressure washer.
Does this need to be repainted? If so what type of paint do I need to use?

Sand it well with 280 then prime with Zinc Cromate primer, (NAPA) . To match it to factory go to the dealer and get the factory paint in a spray can. Take your time and it will look factory. I've painted my Yamy lower unit several times.

Rattle cans can work well, just use a lot of thin coats. Get in a place with no wind or direct sunlight, if possible.
Also, after it cures you can buff it out with some automotive compound, if you want to get real particular.

So painting it is only cosmetic? I can do without painting it?

Sure, but I like this thread and will do as advised unless someone comes in with a problem doing it.
